Notes Surprisingly great book on democracy. Being part of a series called "Shortest History" didn't inspire confidence in its quality, but the author wrote another 900 pages book on the topic 10 years before. I appreciated the break down of the history in 3 parts (even if the last one "monitory democracy" is his own theory). The author is mindful of both mainstream fallacies that "democracy started in ancient Athens" and "representation came about because of scale". I felt he indirectly expressed his opinions on the facts he wrote about. I did not appreciate this, I wish he was direct. Finally, some parts felt like they were stories, not reality.
